Brad Major is a 30 year old professional firefighter on the west coast of British Columbia. He lives on three acres of land soon to be expropriated by the South Fraser Perimeter Road, a four lane truck transport highway along the banks of the Fraser River. Brad’s land is an oasis in a dense urban setting. His one hundred year old heritage house sits beside a creek in a deep forested ravine accessed by four wheel ATV from the road above. This piece of urban wilderness becomes a staging point for environmental opposition and protest of the construction of this truck transport and shipping highway. He becomes an unlikely hero in a stand, pitting community and environmental groups against government industry and a $3-billion infrastructure project.
It clearly shows that people today are a lot more aware and have concerns towards protecting the environment. And our government, while the participate in global meets for conversation and climate protection it will forget all for money. I consider people like Brad Major as real heroes.
What can we do? Is that road is the only option? But wow I would love to live in that type of environment, excepts BC is the way Canadians get their goods from the East. Maybe we could just stop importing and start producing out on goods her in Canada. We could be self sufficient. LOL Imagine that.
