Media Literacy Week 2010 runs from November 1st to the 5th, and this year's theme is Gender and Media.
The media is an increasingly powerful force in our lives, it entertains us, keeps us informed and also helps shape our perceptions of the world. Today's youth are on the front lines of the mediasphere; in addition to being voracious media consumers, they have also become managers, creators and distributors of information. Because of this, it's essential that they understand how to decode the media messages surrounding us so as to better participate in the creation and dissemination of their own media messages.
